Hello and welcome to my new blog,
My name is Nikos Kavoori, lifelong rail enthusiast and aspiring world traveler from Atlanta,GA. I have created this page with the encouragement of some friends to share photographs and stories from my travels around the world and within the US.
Since I started seriously photographing railways in 2008 I have traveled to 25 US states primarily in the Eastern US. I also love international travel and have traveled much of western Europe by train and made two visits to India in 2016 to document the fascinating railway scene including the quickly disappearing meter gauge network. I have struggled to find an appropriate medium to publish these photos and hope that this website will serve that purpose. I have just returned from a trip from Peru and plan to have many upcoming posts from this amazing trip. Though this blog will primarily focus on railroads I plan to highlight the diverse scenery and cultures that surround the rails.
Below is a small preview of what one can expect in the coming months and I look forward to hearing your questions, comments and feedback.

Hi Nikos,
We’ve been in touch before on the Indian Metre Gauge Facebook group.
I thought I would alert friends in the WATTRAIN world rail heritage organisation about the Choral Valley project. Do you have a direct contact address, in case they want to get in touch? I see one of the WATTRAIN directors is a former head of the Delhi Railway Museum. I also notice that the WATTRAIN conference this year is in Texas, so not too far from you.
I’m based in London UK. My interest stems from my own travels in India, mainly in the 1989s and 1990s and mainly using the metre gauge. I do however have a nephew and family in Atlanta Ga – whom I drop in on to see from time to time when on my way to the Cumbres & Toltec/Silverton lines for Fall photography.
I’m contacting you via your blogsite as it seems less public than using the Facebook group. My own e-mail address is below.
Best wishes
